Primary School in Montessori Ages 3-6
The primary classroom, commonly known as the “Children’s House,” is a nurturing environment for children aged 3 to 6. Various educational settings might refer to this stage as Casa, preschool, early childhood, or simply primary.
Within this vibrant mixed-age setting, children are empowered to take charge of their learning experiences, exploring their interests while benefiting from the guidance of older mentors. This dynamic interaction fosters a sense of community and collaboration. During these formative years, as children begin to discover the intricacies of their developing bodies, much of the coursework is thoughtfully designed to enhance their coordination and control, laying a strong foundation for their physical and cognitive growth.
There are four characteristics of the Montessori primary classroom that separate it from others:
Nature-based education connects children with their environment, sparking curiosity and fostering holistic development. Through outdoor exploration, gardening, and STEM activities, students build skills that extend beyond the classroom.
