Empowering Students Through Experiential Learning

At Great Work Montessori, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing, student-centered environment where children develop a love of learning, self-discipline, and respect for others. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy developed by Maria Montessori, our approach fosters independence, curiosity, and real-world problem-solving skills, preparing students for a lifetime of success.

In 2021, we launched an adolescent program to support young individuals, but unfortunately, it has since been discontinued. Our vision is to eventually reintroduce this program in future years with even greater purpose and vitality, ensuring it flourishes within the community. We aspire to create a supportive environment where adolescents can grow, learn, and thrive.

We believe education should go beyond traditional methods of rote memorization and standardized testing. Instead, our students learn through hands-on experiences, self-directed exploration, and collaboration. With our individualized learning plans, each child is encouraged to grow at their own pace, based on their unique interests, strengths, and developmental readiness.

At Great Work Montessori, we strive to:

• Provide real-world experiences that prepare students for their future.

Through our Micro-economies program, students engage in real-world financial decision-making—whether selling handmade items, baking goods, or planning trips like their visit to the Adirondacks in 2021-2022. These experiences empower students with financial literacy, teamwork, and entrepreneurial skills.

Maria Montessori, a physician and lifelong educator, developed an innovative educational philosophy emphasizing student-led learning in a prepared environment. At Great Work Montessori, we uphold her principles by allowing students to:

Jody Caffaro, our esteemed headmaster, has dedicated over 20 years to the Montessori philosophy as both an educator and administrator. She is trained in Montessori Adolescent Studies (ages 12-18) through the North American Montessori Teachers Association (NAMTA) and is passionate about preparing students for life beyond the classroom.

Thanks to her leadership, Great Work Montessori has become a private program that seamlessly combines academic excellence with practical experiences, empowering students to build the skills they need to succeed in the real world.
